The Industry Contributor award acknowledges IrisGuard for the critical and timely support it is providing during one of the largest refugee exoduses in recent history. IrisGuard’s humanitarian EyeBank® project is the world’s largest Iris deployment intended to provide financial inclusion services to Syrian refugees.

“The Syrian crisis is the world’s first ever cross-border iris enabled humanitarian relief registration and financial inclusion program”, explains Mr. Malhas, CEO of IrisGuard. “To have enrolled over 1.6 million refugees so far is a testimony of IrisGuard leadership, competencies and innovative technology. We are sincerely grateful to have the opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of refugees at these difficult times.”

Tony Craddock, CEO of the Emerging Payments Awards commented, “IrisGuard is a great example of how innovations in payments can make a meaningful difference to people’s lives. As the industry continues to develop new technology, innovations and partnerships, I feel sure that we will see more payments solutions of this kind.”

“Our industry is capturing the attention of the investment community and that is allowing more innovation and entrepreneurialism to come through,” commented Roger Alexander, Chairman of the Judges. “We’ve been delighted to see so many innovations and new opportunities, including early-stage initiatives, in this year’s awards”.

Now in its eighth year, the Emerging Payments Awards is known for the integrity of the awards through its rigorous judging process, as well as one of the best parties in the industry. The Awards ceremony was preceded by a champagne reception and dinner, after which they did what payments people do best – next to payments – celebrating until 2am.

Winners received their awards from well-known industry figures and organisations, including representatives from Digital Payments, M2 and other sponsors, namely SVS, Visa Europe Collab, PrePay Solutions, Discover Financial Services, Carta Worldwide, IDT Financial Services and PayExpo2016.

Brantley Muscato, Managing Director of M2, a part of Digital Payments, described the evening as an amazing event, “I congratulate the winners and applaud the finalists. But I believe that, through association, in this amazing industry of ours, we are all winners.”
